For a film that is remarkable in its capturing of realism and
truth and almost 'improvised' in its spontaneity, it would come
as a surprise to be told that 'Lets Talk' was, in fact, shot
twice.
Firstly as a 'scratch' film to allow the team to know where
they were going, a boon of the digital era! The first version
was edited and shown to friends for reactions. Three months
of changes and rehearsals later, the second and final version
was shot.
This process of writing, rehearsing, shooting the rehearsals,
rewriting, reshooting, re-rehearsing,
re-reshooting in a seemingly endless manner took over two
years.
This method of work brought forth many beliefs and systems
techniques. It also helped the actors (the film is primarily
a two-character piece) to reach a truth wherein it seems are
living their roles and not acting them.
