| Why must
plots be linear? Why must subtext be text? Why can't the structure
of the film be based on a form of music? Why can't the theme
of the film be Indian? Why can't the film be about the Radha-Krishna
myth? Why can't the film be about normal confusing insecure
life? Why can't the film be about small things? Why can't the
film be about words, the 'Blue Labelness' or 'Laphroigness'
of dialogue? Why can't it be about the duality of the spoken
word and thought word? Why must English when spoken on screen
sound stilted and formal and unrealistic and dialogue-heavy?
Why can't life be represented on screen? Real life as it happens
around us? Why can't the characters on screen be constantly
under self-doubt and disillusionment? Why can't actors stop
acting? Or cameramen stop lighting? Why must actors not be involved
in scriptwriting? Why can't a film have 3 people and 2 locations
and be written to a budget? Why can't? Why not? What if? How
can? Why does? Why have? Why? Let's talk. |
